Fly Lady!

After complaining to my friend Brittney about never having a clean house and how it always “looks like a bomb hit it” she told me about Fly Lady! Sounded very exciting. Someone to send me emails to remind me to clean my house and encourage me to organize my life. And the cool thing is it’s working! Granted I still walk into my kitchen and want to hit my head against the wall in complete despair. But not I can see a little light shining through all the mountains of stuff. The first step is the sticky note up above. “Go Shine your sink.” It’s amazing. just wiping out the sink (even if I don’t do the dishes) seems to make a world of difference. And then I feel inspired to do more.:) I haven’t gotten into a habbit of doing this before bed every night, but I am working on it.

Another Fly Lady tip I like is setting the timer for 10-15 minutes and power cleaning. Take one spot, clean until the timer dings and then leave it alone. You’ve accomplished something and your not completely worn out. And the weekly House Blessing. You get your vacuuming, dusting, mopping, change sheets, empty trash cans done in an hour. A good quick clean up that leaves the house feeling awesome! I am amazed. And I really want to continue working on this. I didn’t grow up in a family that was organized or habitually did anything, so I never learned. But I am now and just taking it slow so I don’t get burnt out. I do like having a clean-ish house. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it would be nice to see my kitchen table, or not step on rice cake crumbs when I walk. It’s getting there.

Thank you Fly Lady!
