New Baby Chickies!

Hallelujah!  The babies are here and everyone is fine.

We got a call last week from Stromberg’s saying it would be another week bofore they shipped, which was fine with me really.  We weren’t totally ready and  if they arrive here a week later, that just means they’ll be a week warmer when we finally get them outside.  So they were shipped on the 19th.  I figured since they were shipped from within our state that it would only take a day to get here and was SO excited about getting them.  And then they didn’t yesterday.  I was so disappointed and got really bitchy.  My poor family.  But they all are incredibly understanding.  My husband said it was like getting myself ready for Chirstmas, only to be told that someone had gotten the dates mixed up and I had to wait again.  Yeah.

But today was like Christmas (complete with about 4″ of snow) and 25 beautiful little chickies!  When my husband brought them in they were making a ton of noise and then we got them under the heat lamp and they were silent.  And when we took them out of the box they all looked drunk.  They were swaying and tumbling over each other.  I figure this is because of the trip and the cold out.  So we got them drinking water and warming up, spread some food on the floor and they are pecking at that.  And they must be happy because they are being pretty quiet.  It’s weird having birds in the other room.  Every time they make a noise I think they are stressed.  But then they quiet down and are fine.

I tried taking some pictures, but it being early and the light from the lamp makes for some funny pictures.  I’ll try again later I guess.

I am so relieved that they are all ok and am glad they are settling in so well.  We gave them some trace minerals and microhydrin and a little salt in their water as a pick-me-up.  And they are getting rejuvenate in their food.  These are going to be super chicks!
